Google Vault administrators can now search and export staff conversations with Gemini in Workspace, which helps with legal holds, investigations and compliance requests.

• What it is: filtered exports of Gemini conversations from Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Meet, delivered as JSON files containing prompts, responses and citations.
• Who is affected: Workspace admins with Vault, on eligible editions including Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and Education editions. There is no end-user setting.
• How it works: exports can be filtered by user or organisational unit (up to 5,000 users) and by date range. The feature requires conversation history to be turned on, and it is available now for Rapid and Scheduled Release domains.
• What to do: review your Gemini conversation history and retention settings in the Admin console, and make sure staff know their AI conversations may be retained and searched.
