Google Workspace: New Admin Security Controls

Google has rolled out new admin controls for Google Workspace aimed at reducing security risks from automated tools and calendar invitations.

What it is: Two updates released this month — expanded security governance for Workspace Studio's automated workflows (including access controls and data loss prevention), and new controls letting admins restrict which calendar invitation options staff can use.
Who is affected: Any business using Google Workspace, particularly those that have started using AI-powered automation tools within Studio.
The risk: Without the new controls switched on, automated workflows can run with broader access than necessary, and calendar invites can be used as a vector for phishing or unwanted content.
What to do: Workspace administrators should review the new settings in the Admin console and apply least-privilege access to any automated workflows.
