Google has begun rolling out an instant deprovisioning feature for Workspace, closing a long-standing gap where employee access could linger after they left the business or changed roles.

• What it is: A new security feature that immediately cuts off access to Workspace as soon as an account is suspended or removed, rather than waiting for background processes to catch up.
• Who is affected: All Google Workspace business customers; rollout began 9 July 2026 and will reach all domains within 15 days.
• What the risk is: Until now, orphaned accounts from departed staff have been a common way for former employees or attackers to retain access to company email, files, and shared drives.
• What action is needed: No setup is required, the feature activates automatically. Use this as a prompt to review your offboarding checklist and confirm access is revoked promptly across all systems, not just Workspace.
