Microsoft will roll out its next Windows 11 security and feature update on 14 July 2026, bringing a new recovery tool alongside the usual security fixes.

• What it is: The update introduces "Point-in-time Restore", a feature that automatically creates restore points so a PC can be rolled back to a previous working state if something goes wrong. It also adds a new accessibility screen tint option.
• Who is affected: All Windows 11 (24H2 and 25H2) business and home users who receive updates through Windows Update.
• What the risk is: No immediate risk. This is a scheduled feature and security update, not a response to an active threat. Separately, Microsoft has expanded Defender for Identity alerting to cover more suspicious activity across Entra ID and Active Directory environments.
• What action is needed: No action required ahead of time. Updates will install automatically through standard Windows Update channels; businesses on managed update schedules should confirm the update is approved for deployment once released.

We recommend allowing this update to install on its normal schedule and keeping an eye out for the new recovery option, which can save time if a PC runs into trouble.
