A significant nbn outage affecting parts of South East Tasmania – including Hobart and surrounding suburbs – has been resolved after impacting more than 1,100 nbn services over approximately 24 hours.
- What happened: An IT system issue within the nbn network caused a widespread service disruption across South East Tasmania.
- When: The outage started on 29 June 2026 at 5:56pm AEST and was fully restored by 30 June 2026 at 5:30pm AEST.
- Who was affected: 1,116 nbn services across Hobart, Kingston, Glenorchy, Sorell, Huonville, New Norfolk, and dozens of surrounding suburbs. Technologies affected included Fibre to the Building (FTTB), Fibre to the Node (FTTN), Fibre to the Premises (FTTP), and Fixed Wireless.
- Current status: All affected services have been restored. nbn engineers completed health checks and are actively monitoring network stability.
A separate significant outage also affected 1,005 nbn services in the Eden region (Far South Coast NSW) on 28 June 2026, caused by a fault in third-party managed network infrastructure. That outage was also resolved by 29 June 2026.
