Microsoft is retiring support for external tools controlling Teams meetings or calls on 30 June 2026. If your business uses any third-party integrations or automation tools that connect to or control Microsoft Teams meetings, this change may affect your setup.
- What is changing: From 30 June 2026, external applications will no longer be able to control Teams meetings or calls programmatically. The associated privacy setting in the Teams desktop client will also be removed.
- Who is affected: Businesses using third-party meeting room control systems, custom automation, or integrations that interact directly with Teams meetings via this capability. Standard Teams users are not affected.
- What the risk is: Meeting room systems or workflows relying on this integration may stop functioning after the retirement date without warning.
- What to do:
- Check with your IT provider or AV/meeting room vendor whether any of your current tools use external Teams meeting controls.
- Contact the vendor for an updated integration method or alternative before 30 June.
