Google has added detailed audit logging for Gemini Notebook to the Workspace Admin console, giving administrators visibility into how staff are using the AI notebook tool.

• What it is: Comprehensive audit logs covering notebook activity, user identity, IP address and resource context, rolling out gradually from 3 September 2026.
• Who is affected: All Google Workspace customers with access to the security investigation and audit and investigation tools.
• What the risk is: Without this visibility, admins have had no record of what data staff feed into, or extract from, Gemini Notebook.
• What action is needed: Once the rollout reaches your domain, which can take up to 15 days, review the new logs through the Admin console security investigation tool. BigQuery export is available but not switched on by default.
