Google is rolling out "Ask Gemini" inside Google Chat from 26 August 2026, putting an AI assistant directly into the chat window staff already use every day.
- What it is: A new AI-powered command line built into Google Chat, part of Workspace Intelligence, letting staff ask questions and get answers without switching apps.
- Who is affected: Google Workspace business and enterprise customers with Chat enabled.
- Related admin change: A new setting also lets administrators restrict specific users or groups from creating new Chat spaces, while still allowing direct and group messages.
- What to do: Review your Workspace Intelligence and Gemini settings in the Admin console before the rollout, particularly if you want to control who has access.
