Google Workspace: New Account Security Options Rolling Out

Google is rolling out several new security features across Workspace aimed at making business accounts harder to break into.

  • What it is: Passkey login is now available to more Workspace customers, a new session protection feature (Device Bound Session Credentials) is in open beta, and file security labels are now visible directly in Google Drive.
  • Who is affected: Any business using Google Workspace for email, Drive, or Calendar.
  • Why it matters: These features reduce the risk of account takeover from phishing and stolen login sessions, two of the most common ways business email accounts are compromised.
  • What to do: Workspace admins can enable, and where appropriate enforce, passkey login for staff, and review the new Drive classification labels to understand what sensitive files are visible to.

We recommend reviewing your Workspace admin console this month to take advantage of these protections.
