A network fault affecting hundreds of NBN services in the Peninsula region of Far North Queensland remains unresolved several days on, with technicians still working to restore full connectivity.
- What it is: A fault in third-party managed network infrastructure is impacting the NBN network across Fibre to the Premises, Fibre to the Node, Fibre to the Basement and Enterprise Ethernet connections in the region.
- Who is affected: Around 874 services in the Peninsula area of Queensland, as of NBN Co's latest update on 16 August.
- The risk: The issue cannot be fixed remotely, so affected businesses may continue to lose internet, phone and EFTPOS connectivity until a technician attends the site.
- What to do: If your business is in the affected area, check NBN Co's outage register for the latest restoration estimate and keep a backup connectivity option, such as a mobile hotspot, on hand.
Separately, Optus has scheduled maintenance on its SMS Suite for the evening of 26 August, which may cause brief interruptions to SMS services during that window.
We recommend businesses in the Peninsula region confirm restoration timing with NBN Co directly if services remain down.
