Google is restricting access to more than 1,300 third-party applications connected to Workspace accounts from 20 July, after identifying them as posing potential security, privacy, or data protection risks.

• What it is: Google has reviewed third-party apps with access to Workspace data (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and similar) and identified over 1,300 that have not met its approval standards.
• Who is affected: Any Google Workspace business that has staff using third-party apps or browser extensions connected to their Google account for sign-in or data access.
• What's the risk: From 20 July, restricted apps may stop working, or lose access to Workspace data, potentially disrupting workflows that depend on them.
• What to do: Workspace administrators should review connected third-party apps in the Admin Console before 20 July and confirm which ones are business-critical, so staff aren't caught out by a sudden loss of access.
