Google has expanded its security alerting in Google Workspace, giving administrators better visibility over privileged accounts. Two updates released on 29 June 2026 make it easier to detect unauthorised changes before they cause damage.

• Admin password reset alerts expanded: The existing "Super Admin password reset" alert in Alert Centre has been broadened to cover password resets for all administrator roles, not just super admins. You will now be notified any time a password changes for any account with elevated privileges in your organisation — improving your ability to spot a potential account takeover quickly.
• Granular mobile device management: Admins can now assign mobile device management (MDM) privileges for specific organisational units (OUs) rather than applying them organisation-wide. This helps limit access to only what is needed, reducing risk from over-provisioned accounts.
• What to do: Review your Alert Centre settings to confirm that security notifications are going to the right people. No configuration change is required to receive the expanded admin password reset alerts — they are enabled automatically.
