Google has rolled out several updates for Google Workspace administrators this month, with a particular focus on data protection and compliance controls for organisations using Gemini AI features.
- DLP policy automation: Admins can now programmatically create, update, and delete data loss prevention (DLP) policies via the Workspace Policy API. This allows IT teams to automate the full lifecycle of data protection rules — including real-time activation and deactivation — rather than managing them manually through the Admin console.
- Gemini compliance via Google Vault: Google Vault now supports retention rules and litigation holds for the Gemini app on web and mobile. For businesses in regulated industries, Gemini conversations can now be preserved and retrieved for legal or compliance purposes.
- Document approvals in Drive: Google Drive has introduced lightweight alignment approvals, allowing teams to request and record sign-offs on documents without edits resetting the approval flow.
These updates are most relevant to Workspace admins and businesses subject to data governance or compliance requirements. Contact OzComm if you need assistance configuring DLP policies or Vault retention rules for Gemini.
